WiderPool, the London/New York-based innovation broker and venture capital boutique firm, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer, Juan Carlos Fouz.

His appointment comes after six months of collaboration as a member of the WiderPool Advisory Board, where he drove strategy and the execution of corporate projects in the US, EU, and Latin America.

Juan Carlos Fouz, 45, began his career as an entrepreneur in customer experience consultancy over 20 years ago, when he launched IZO, a consulting firm specialized in business operations analysis and the improvement of customer experiences. He also founded and led companies, such as GAB, SMARTAPPERS, BCE, CIONET, and others focusing on tech innovation, asset management and business model restructuring. Fouz has been an active business angel and mentor in several startups, marked with successful collaborations with tech accelerators and venture capital firms. He is an active member of YPO (Young Presidents Organization) – the world’s largest and most prestigious network of 24,000 CEOs representing every global region – chairing the YPO Madrid chapter and serving on the European Executive Committee.

WiderPool Founder and Chairman Ignacio Macias said: “We are thrilled to have Juan Carlos Fouz as our new CEO. Juan not only knows the innovation investment ecosystem from the ground up, but also has been a successful entrepreneur working in-depth to solve the strategic business needs of a global array of corporations that are recognized leaders in their industry sectors.  His leadership and the way he builds innovation from concept to reality make him a perfect fit for WiderPool.”

As one of the first steps of his tenure at WiderPool, Juan Carlos will be integrating two organizations – CIONET and Demtech – into the business structure of WiderPool, as well as starting work on global innovation collaboration with a major business conglomerate in India.

“I’m excited to begin my new role at WiderPool,” said Fouz. “The company is a unique innovative organization that provides solutions to the new disruptive market challenges that many businesses face. There is a clear need in the market to convert businesses’ ‘pain points’ into opportunities. This is what WiderPool does best, using disruptive technologies from the newest technology talents found externally worldwide. I am looking forward to leading the WiderPool team and its partners to deliver a transformative model of collaboration for innovation between corporates and early growth tech companies.”
